Mark Speed has served as a Franklin County Commissioner since his appointment in 2017. Prior to his appointment, and throughout his time on the county commission, he has served on various community service boards representing Franklin, Nash and Vance Counties.
Commissioner Speed enters the race with a family heritage of public service. His Grandfather served on the Franklin County Commission in the 1920’s. His father James D. Speed represented this community for over 30 years in the North Carolina General Assembly. Mark hopes to bring his own family’s values of service and stability to the North Carolina State Senate.
Mark and his wife of 28 years, Camille Speed, live in Louisburg North Carolina and are members of Red Bud Baptist Church.
Mark Speed released the following statement on the launch of his campaign:
“I am excited and honored to announce my candidacy to represent the great people of Franklin, Nash, and Vance Counties. Over the coming months I look forward to traveling throughout the district to hear from members of our community on how I can best serve them and to share my vision for our great state.”
