ABOUT MARK

Mark Speed has served as a Franklin County Commissioner since his appointment in 2017.  He was re-elected in 2020. Prior to his appointment, and throughout his time on the county commission, he has served on various community service boards representing Franklin County and surrounding communities.

Commissioner Speed has a family heritage of public service. His Grandfather served on the Franklin County Commission in the 1920’s. His father James D. Speed represented this community for over 30 years in the North Carolina General Assembly. 

On the County Commission, Mark has fought to fund public schools, improve public services, support small businesses,  and lower taxes for working families. 

Mark and his wife of 28 years, Camille Speed, live in Louisburg North Carolina and are members of Red Bud Baptist Church.
